Bid on some of the paintings of our local and regional artists. Final judging and silent auction bidding will take place on Sunday at 2:30. The Adirondack National Exhibition of American Watercolors is an annual, nationally recognized display of watercolor medium artworks by the finest artists in the United States. 2011 North Country Arts Council (NCAC) Summer Arts Fest Plein Air Contest Friday August 12, 7 AM to Saturday August 13th 3 PM Watertown NY $25 Registration Fee on line at www.nnyart.org via credit card or Pay Pal. Early registration $20 if paid by July 12. Register and/ or sign in 7AM to 10 AM Friday and Saturday. Completely blank work surfaces must be stamped at sign in before work starts. Artists will sign the rules sheet to acknowledge they have read and understand them. Paint one or two days. CASH AWARDS: 1 st Place $300 2nd Place $200 3 rd Place $100 SALES: All sales handled by NCAC, Artists receive 80% of sales price, 20% to NCAC At any time during the two day event bidders may write down a bid at artists workstations with a phone number to call if bidder cannot be at final auction. Judging at 3PM Saturday at 52 Public Square in the new Arts on the Square facility and the Final Auction follows from about 3 PM to 5 PM. Turn in paintings by 2:30 PM A limit of two works may be submitted for judging. All work submitted for judging must be for sale and have a minimum bid on bid sheet of at least $50. Artists may display works not submitted for judging in a separate area for sale with the same minimum bid of $50 and keep 20%. The artist has the option of providing suitable support, mounting, and or framing after judging so that purchased art work can be transported by the buyer. RULES: Artist must be painting the scene surrounding the artist, without the use of photographs. Painting area will be anywhere in Watertown on Friday and within two blocks of Public Square on Saturday where the other Arts Fest Activities are in progress. Permissible media are limited to oil, acrylic, watercolor and water-media or pastel. Water-media must not have ink lines applied to the painting.

The North Country Arts Council and Jefferson County Historical Society announce a special pARTnership this spring and summer. Acess for artists is offered, to create on site, using the museum collection and grounds as subject matter. The grounds include the garden, log cabin, little Pink School House, and the barn. Artifacts in the museum including access to the archives on the third floor, not normally open to the public, can be arranged with the Executive Director, William Wood, 782-4391. Plein Air Painters Thousand Islands Region (PAPTIR) kicks off this event on May 27, which is open to all artists. Other open dates are June 8 and 22, July 6 and 20, 10am to 5pm. On August 8, an exhibit of work created will go on display at ARTS on The Square until August 13th. North Country Arts Council with retain a 20% commission. NCAC SUMMER ARTS FEST on the 14th in traffic closed downtown Public Square with fine arts vendors, bands, juggler, quartets, street painters. Paint any where in the City on the 13th, within a designated areas near the Square on Saturday. Black River white water rapids canyon near the square downtown has five city park access points for painting views with kayaks and rafters. Thompson Park for city overlooks, shady picnic groves, zoo. Historic homes (more millionaires in the 1920s than any where in the US) and buildings as well. Aged brick factory building reflecting past glamour-no need to travel to Europe for rustic painting subjects.
